As a little girl, I’ve always loved “The Secret Garden.” Watching the movie, I can still picture the old skeleton key inserting into the lock and the door opening to the magnificent secret garden. I’ve contemplated this a lot within my own life and its meaning. Life consumes us too easily if we’re not ready. How many times a day do we do things for ourselves? How many times do we check out phones for messages, IM’s or notifications? How many of us have these beautiful “gardens” blossoming inside us but are unable to find the secret door to unlock the beauty?
There is a secret garden where miracles and magic abound, and it’s available to anyone who makes the choice to visit there.
-Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
With a full-time job, marriage, life, etc. we can easily become lost in it and unable to find our true self. So I ask these questions to all of you:
- What makes you happy?
- If money was irrelevant, what would you do for a living?
- If the world was silent, who/what would you need to fill it to find joy?
If any of these answers don’t match up with your current situation, change it. Find a way to incorporate the small things back into your life. If music is important to you, take piano lessons. Who cares about your age! When running through mountain trails you finally feel free, go to a place where technology can’t exist – leave the phone in the car or escape for a weekend.
I’m guilty of this. I check my phone I don’t know how many times a day. I sometimes lose my sense of adventure and creativity. Let’s not let this happen! The world would be a better place if we all remembered who we wanted to be before the world told us who we should be! I’m a huge believing on realizing your strengths and letting go of your weaknesses. That’s not to say giving up, but working on them day by day.
Believe in the impossible. The only person stopping you is you! Happy Friday everyone. We’re off to the animal shelter to scout out a new pup! Wish us luck!
