Makeover Monday – Color Matching 101

March 27, 2017 by TaziaLynne Filed Under: Beauty 2 Comments

Let’s dive into color matching 101. Let’s be real, it can be intimidating! I teach you how to correctly color match your skin to ensure the most beautiful skin tones and contour with Maskcara IIID Foundation. (#winning) Are you ready? Let’s go!

Color Matching 101 – Tips to Success

Fair Skin Tones

How gorgeous is my model Savannah? I mean talk about beautiful skin. With Savannah’s lighter skin tones, I used the following colors:

  • Highlight: Moonlit
  • Contour: Walnut
  • Blush: Desert Sunset
  • Setting Powder: Vanilla

Since Savannah’s work is busy and hectic, we wanted it to last. We opted for the setting powder over the illuminator to ensure a lasting everyday look. I was really surprised to use Moonlit as it’s the lightest shade, but White Peach was too dark. When color matching make sure you don’t look yellow or too ghostly. I usually test a little bit on the jaw line. If I’m not close to you, email me and I can color match you from anywhere!

Medium Skin Tones

Where are my sun babes at? Kaylie just got back from Hawaii, so I wanted to keep her bronzed glow. Color matching tan skin can be tricky without creating too many yellow undertones. Amber is my go to! If your skin tends to tan with more red undertones, sunlit is going to be your jam. (That’s my summer color!) Here’s what we used on Kaylie:

  • Highlight: Amber
  • Contour: Stone
  • Blush: Desert Sunset
  • Setting Powder: Vanilla

Kaylie’s skin tends to be more on the oily side, so we opted for the setting powder instead to create a lasting finish. When color matching medium skin tones, look for undertones. Are you more yellow or red in the sun? This will help to ensure proper color.

Olive Skin Tones

My model Kay is Latina with beautiful olive skin. I wanted to accentuate her natural bone structure and keep her pigments warm. Since she does have olive undertones, a stone or our new olive contour works amazingly on her. Here’s what we used:

  • Highlight: Amber
  • Contour: Stone (Olive wasn’t available when I did her makeup)
  • Blush: Ever Red
  • Illuminator: Honey

With warmer skin tones, honey is my go to illuminator to get that Pinterest worthy glow. She wanted a more glam look with some fierce ever red on her lips and cheeks.

Dark Skin Tones

I’m soooo excited to announce our new color line for those who have a darker complexion! Part of the same IIID Foundation family, mango and indigo will be your go-to colors. We also launched my new obsession, nude and olive!

If you have any questions or would like me to color match you, email me! This makeup is my latest obsession. It streamlines my routine and I love the way it accentuates the angles I already have. Why not look beautiful and be ready in 15 minutes?

Get out there gorgeous!

Happy Monday babes!

XOXO,
